Yoga Nidra
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a deeply restful, relaxing, and healing practice. It is done lying down, no movement is necessary except for that which may be needed to adjust for comfort during the practice. In this restful practice, students are led through a guided meditation that helps to facilitate access to different brainwaves and states of consciousness, and to release deeply held stress. The word Nidra means “sleep”, and so yoga nidra is “yogic sleep” or “sleeping yoga”. Another more accurate translation might be “a practice that supports the integration of consciousness and quieting of the mind through the process of intentional rest”.
therapeutic yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra has been widely researched as a therapeutic practice and has been found to be an incredibly effective therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. It is also amazingly valuable as a practice to support women’s health during pregnancy, postpartum recovery, peri-menopause, and PMS, and menstruation and has been proven to help relieve hot flashes.
